Officials said those policies produced releases of more than 13,000 such individuals from local jails despite detainers. Mullin praised ICE for overriding those sanctuary policies rather than leaving convicted offenders at large. Field Office Director Kenneth Genalo called the four-week action deliberate, precise, and effective.

Mullin highlighted cases that define the public-safety purpose of the operation. Ukrainian national Bogdan Detrovich Gren has convictions for kidnapping, abduction resulting in death, criminal possession of a weapon, and murder. Colombian national Andreas Bernal Chiquito has arrests for sexual conduct against a child and injuring a child less than 17. Other arrests included Palvinder Singh of India, convicted of rape in Germany, and Carlos Mendez-Acosta of Venezuela, convicted of rape. Homan said President Trump is a law-and-order president who delivers on his promises: if local officials will not safeguard their communities, federal authorities will.

Yes. Officials said they are not finished and plan more sweeps focused on public safety threats.
